Our presentation this month will feature a panel of experts who will explain how to obtain two of the more popular forms of outside funding for mergers and growth transactions, SBA loans and private capital. We will also provide a lawyer, for those of you interested in exercising your legal rights regarding private securities fraud if (and sometimes, alas, when) the deal produces less than perfect results. Our experts are:
David Enquist, Business Lending Solutions, Inc: SBA Loans
His website describes him as able to leap small buildings in a single bound...but, more seriously, as having more than 30 years' experience in SBA lending, with close to $1 billion in projects funded over the years.
Tom Kastner, GP Ventures: Finding Private Investors
Tom has more than 20 years of experience in putting together deals. He has directed North American investment programs for Japanese clients, and is fluent in that language. Tom is an active member of the Midwest Business Brokers and Intermediaries.
Bill Price, Growthlaw: Documenting Your Deals
Bill has practiced law since 1978, serving clients from Japan to Jakarta, and from initial startup to public company sale. Recent securities deals include a nonrelational database software company that raised $2 million, a gluten-free grain puffing entrepreneur who raised $1 million, and a variety of other p/e, angel, and founder/partner transactions. He has been retained as an expert witness by the Illinois Securities Department and many other litigation organizations on LLC's, securities fraud, and other Illinois corporate governance questions. Attendees will receive a free checklist for their private placement memorandum and other disclosure documents, which is also available to those who cannot attend if they email Bill at wprice@growthlaw.com with the keyword “Roundtable” in the subject line.
